If you are in the market for a new car it is important that you check out all of your options. For example, how do you feel about leasing a car as opposed to buying it? Asking yourself this question may open up a whole new world of possibilities for you if you feel comfortable leasing a new vehicle. (Here’s some information: Leasing vs Buying) Regardless of whether you are interested in leasing or buying there are few things that you have to get straight in order to get the best deal possible.

Car Price Negotiation Tips

Make sure that you are not too eager when you walk into the car dealership. Salesman can smell an eager buyer coming from a block away. Once they know you are interested in leaving with a new car that day it will be difficult for you to get the best deal possible on a purchase, or lease, price. This is simply human nature. Instead, make sure you act ordinary while looking at the cars and ask questions regarding each make and model.

It is even a good idea if you mention that you might consider a lease. S

Banks Announce Fee Waivers for Credit Card Donations to Japan Disaster Assistance

VISA and MasterCard, along with many major banks such as J. P. Morgan Chase, Wells Fargo, and Bank of America, have announced not only their own monetary contributions to Japan’s disaster relief, but also have decided to waive the interchange fees on donations to major charities assisting in the relief efforts.

Waiving the interchange fees will make a significant difference in the total amount of monies received by the charities as interchange fees are the largest percentage of the fees collected by credit card companies.

Some of the banks and credit card issuing companies have placed a time-limit on fee waivers. VISA will not charge fees on donations to Japan relief funds through April 30 and MasterCard through May 15.

MasterCard and VISA, along with several of the banks, have created lists of charities not being charged interchange fees for donations to the disaster relief funds. T

Thieves Steal New Credit Card Enabled Parking Meters

Municipalities across the USA are switching over from old fashioned coin operated parking meters to new high-tech digital meters that accept coins or credit cards, and the trend has not gone unnoticed by thieves. They recently yanked about 20 of the new meters right out of the sidewalk in Chicago, leaving many people who had used their cards in the meters worried about the security of their credit card information.

A spokesman for the contractor who manages the meters for the city tried to assure everyone that their financial data was safe, saying that the card account information was stored and transmitted securely – and is not retained inside the parking meters.

The police department of Chicago was rather surprised that the thieves would work so hard to steal the meters because each of them weighs about 200 pounds. Not only that but they are tightly bolted into place. W

Q: I’m pretty sure I can check my Chase credit card balance online, but I have no idea how to do this. Help!

A: All you have to do is log in to your Chase credit card account, which can be accessed here. It will show your balance on the home page under My Account. If you have a Chase credit card but don’t yet have an account on their website, you can enroll here. You will need your personal and account information, such as your account number and social security number.

Other information you can find in your Chase account includes when your next payment is due, how much is due, your recent credit card statements, and your credit limit. These can all be found under the My Account tab. You can set up an automatic payment or pay your minimum payment under Payments & Transfers, or dispute a charge in the Customer Center.

If you have trouble finding something, try browsing the FAQ before contacting customer service. Cus

Barclaycard offers a 20-month balance transfer

Barclaycard has extended its balance transfer offer to 20 months but penalises customers with only one balance to move by charging a higher transfer fee.

The move came in response to MBNA today launching a new 0% 18-month balance transfer credit and Virgin Money extending its period to the same.

Barclaycard has now gone the extra mile to beat both cards by extending the length of its balance transfer to 20 months however, it will be upping the transfer fee from 2.9 to 3.2%.

Yesterday Barclaycard launched a 25% discount for new customers transferring more than one balance. That still applies to the new fee.

A new Barclaycard customer making three transfers of 1,000 to the total of 3,000 would be charged 69 in transfer fees, including the discount of 25%.

However, anyone transferring just one balance of 3,000 will have to pay the full fee of 3.2%, a cost of 92

The ‘discount’ is available to anyone who applies before the 3 May and you will have 60 days to make the transfer.

Getting Value Out Of Your Credit Cards With The Airlines

Posted by: John Freycinet  Posted date: March 03, 2011 in Credit Cards Articles

Some of the first reward credit cards were airline rewards credit cards. The airlines already had their loyalty programs set up, and all the banks had to do was to tie in with them. In the beginning, you earned a set number of points, and then you booked a ticket. Most of the time, you just had to name your flight. I can remember booking a flight using miles in 1997 and being offered several different choices for travel that same day! Those were the good old days. Today’s airline rewards landscape has changed dramatically, and smart reward card holders must change their habits to continue to get decent value from their miles earned through credit card rewards.

Deflation Is Rampant

Today, there are so few awards available for 25,000 miles, that their value is hovering at just a little over 1 penny per mile. For any kind of last minute or multi-leg itinerary, the legacy carriers are going to ask for 40,000 or 50,000 miles. The worst is Delta, followed closely by United, US Airways, and Continental. O
